The owners of this stunning new build in North London are a busy young couple that wanted their outdoor space to reflect the house’s modern architecture and interior design. They sought to increase their use of the garden, as in its existing state it was not attractive or inviting. The developer had provided some hard landscaping in the form of aggregates and paving but there was no planting at all and the space lacked the look and feel of a garden.
White rendered walls provide a theme and divide the spaces while integrating the three main areas. The horizontal walls act as a backdrop for the lush and leafy planting and provide seating in the dappled shade. Different spatial experiences entice the user to explore and enjoy all the different areas and details through the garden. Portland stone, hardwood deck and Scottish beach pebbles provide exciting contrasting textures.
